What is the difference between Screen Casting and Augmented Reality Glasses?

A further breakdown on the differences between Basic Subtitles and AR subtitles when it comes to Screen casting and augmented reality.

Screen casting and augmented reality are two different technologies that can be used to interact with XRAI Glass.

  • Screen casting is a way to show what is on your device's screen onto another screen such as your AR Glasses. It works by sending a live video of your device's screen to another device, such as a TV or projector, but in this case any connected augmented reality glasses.

  • Augmented reality is a way to overlay digital content on top of the real world. It works by allowing you to see what is in front of you and then overlaying digital content which in this case, XRAI Glass's subtitles on top of it. This can be used for a variety of purposes, such as attending speaker engagements, lectures, family or friend gatherings, and meal gatherings where you can engage in with what is being spoken around you as you look around as subtitles float amongst your peers.

Here are some examples of how screen casting and augmented reality can be used with XRAI Glass:

  • Screen casting

To screen cast, simply plug in your glasses using the adapter. Your phone's screen will immediately load up in your glasses' view, and you can open the XRAI Glass  app> Basic Subtitles. Then, you're ready to go!

  • Augmented reality

Augmented reality can be used to enhance the user experience with XRAI Glass. For example, you can use augmented reality to pin the subtitles in place or to bring them closer or further away from you, depending on your preference.
